Developer poncle took to the internet to unleash Vampire Survivors’ latest update, and it includes a Balatro collab, online co-op and more Castlevania content.
Vampire Survivors has dropped an update that includes an expansion based on indie GOTY winner, Balatro, and the completely free crossover expansion is called Ante Chamber. The new expansion includes a new stage, new characters (including a playable Jimbo) and new power ups that double as Joker cards effectively making the top-down bullet hell title feel like a game of Balatro. Additionally, more Castlevania content and online co-op are also out today in Vampire Survivors, giving fans even more content to blast through with friends. poncle launched a release trailer with the massive patch, and it can be seen below.
The collab comes from the partnership between poncle and LocalThunk and PlayStack, and it returns the collab favour to Vampire Survivors after Balatro: Friends of Jimbo included Survivors-based content. The Ante Chamber update is free for all players on all platforms, and it brings four new characters to the fold. Fans can play as Jimbo, Canio, Chicot, and Perkeo. These new characters come toting four new weapons (and evolutions) with Infernolatro, Gros Michel, Fibonacci Seltzer, and the Celestial Booster. These weapons can be found and used in the new level included with the update, The Ante Chamber.
The Ante Chamber isn’t all that’s included in update 1.14. The new content drop includes more content for last year’s Ode to Castlevania expansion. This expansion is getting 16 new characters (on top of what was already released), 16 new weapons and evolutions, and 12 new Castlevania remixed music tracks. This extra content is can be picked up at no extra cost to players who already own the Ode to Castlevania DLC, which costs $3.99.
On top of the new characters, weapons and levels, Vampire Survivors is going to let you bring friends along for the new adventures with online co-op. This lets players explore freely without being handcuffed to your teammate on the same screen. poncle closed out the big announcement with teasing the next two updates which will be releasing soon.
