TwitchCon 2025: Big Things Are Coming For Twitch

Twitchcon 2024: Twitch is Nothing Without Its Community

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy made some huge announcements during his keynote speech at TwitchCon 2025. While announcements about the company’s future at this yearly event are expected, his announcements this year are real indicators that they are committed to a bright future indeed.

Clancy announced the introduction of dual-format streaming on the platform, allowing streamers to simultaneously stream in vertical and horizontal formats on Twitch. This increases discoverability and accommodates the increasing number of vertical streamers appearing across all platforms. Dual-format streaming began testing in August and will be entering beta testing next week.

The Twitch CEO also announced a partnership with Meta that will allow users of Meta’s line of AI Glasses to stream on Twitch for the first time. Users of Meta’s glasses were previously limited to streaming on Facebook only, and this partnership expects to introduce a new type of streamer to the platform, as well as increase sales of the glasses with the improved reach.

Streamers will be able to leverage more discoverability opportunities with less work with the announcement of Auto Clips,  a system that uses AI and in-stream indicators to create clips without having to rely on viewers or the need to create them post-stream. Updates to help users get sponsors by connecting monetized streamers with advertisers and third parties via the creator dashboard were also discussed in the keynote.

Creators will also be given new tools to help handle the responsibilities of being a streamer in the form of new roles to help support them. A Lead Moderator can now be assigned to manage mods for your channel and access the settings to handle those things on your behalf. The next, designed for agents or managers, allows them to be able to access analytics and financial information directly. These roles will become available starting next month.

With these announcements as part of Dan Clancy’s keynote, TwitchCon 2025 is off to a hot start, and creators of all sizes should have a lot to be excited for in the near and far future. This is only the start of a weekend full of big announcements expected to come here at TwitchCon’s tenth anniversary. More details of these announcements and many more are available on Twitch’s blog.
