The God of War franchise is pretty lucrative for Sony. No wonder that the Japanese manufacturer has just released the Metroidvania God of War: Sons of Sparta and announced God of War Trilogy Remake at the same time.
Although it has been around since 2005, the franchise has enjoyed a successful new start with its Norse saga. Thanks to the LinkedIn profile of Rich Fleider, art director at Santa Monica Studios, we learn that God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarök have generated over $1.4 billion in combined sales.
According to figures announced in November 2022, the 2018 opus has sold over 23 million copies. As for Ragnarök, the latest figures show that over 15 million units were sold in December 2023.
