If itās even half as scary as the developerās last game, this upcoming Steam game is already set to be the scariest game of 2026.
Horror fans are eating good this year. Resident Evil: Requiem is weeks away from release, we have it on good authority that a Resident Evil – Code: Veronica remake is in the works, REANIMAL looks cool as hell, and Return to Silent Hill just hit cinemā oh, uh, never mind on that last one, actually.
Although, speaking of Silent Hill, if youāve yet to get over the untimely demise of P.T., then you may want to check out this upcoming first-person psychological horror game on Steam, because a new, highly rated demo for it just dropped.
Dread Neighbor is an upcoming horror game from developer Ghostcase and publisher Erabit, and itās set to drop at some undefinable point in 2026.
It follows the story of a young woman who moves into a cheap flat because sheās low on cash, only to discover that sheās being watched by odd, undefinable figures throughout the apartment complex.

The further you progress through the game, the more you start to realise that little things in your flat have begun to shift and change. From there, itās up to you to piece together Dread Neighborās mystery, and, presumably, not be murdered by whatever is hiding in your bathtub.
If 2026 sounds like too long to wait for you, however, then Iād highly suggest checking out its 93% Positive rated demo on Steam.
Personally, Iām terrified just from looking at the screenshots on Steam. The fact that itās apparently āinspired by real incidentsā is just the extra horrifying cherry on top, though.
However, the real reason Iām already shaking in my little booties is that Iāve played Ghostcaseās previous horror game, Dread Flats. I genuinely canāt remember the last time a video game scared me as hard as that one, mostly due to that one specific scene at the end (if you know, you know).
Gotta say, Iām quietly excited for this one. Ghostcase havenāt been around for long, but theyāre starting to look like the best new horror devs since Bloober Team emerged.
In the meantime, I highly suggest playing Dread Flats while we wait for the full release of Dread Neighbor. Maybe play something sweet and wholesome in between that and Resident Evil: Requiem, though. The human heart wasnāt built to endure that much terror in such a short space of time.
