A Polish analyst group has narrowed down the release date of The Witcher 4 and given updates on all CD Projektās other upcoming games.
For months now there have been peculiar rumours about The Witcher 3, which was first released in 2015, getting a new DLC expansion. That seems odd because thatās not the way things usually work but not only have the rumours never gone away but itās beginning to make increasing sense if itās used as a prologue to The Witcher 4.
The Witcher 3 has sold a staggering 60 million copies worldwide, so there are a lot of people that would probably be more than happy to buy new content for it, even if the suggestion is that the new DLC wonāt be as substantial as previous expansions Hearts Of Stone and Blood And Wine.
This time the rumour is being propagated, not by some rando on 4chan, but by Polish analyst group Noble Securities. Thereās always a chance theyāre just repeating unfounded rumours that they found on the internet, but they seem to have very specific expectations of CD Projektās future line-up.
According to analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski, a āpaid add-onā for The Witcher 3 will arrive in May 2026, which is quite the revelation, because officially CD Projekt has said nothing about any such thing.
Supposedly, the DLC will be used to connect the plot of The Witcher 3 to the upcoming The Witcher 4, with the marketing campaign for the latter beginning at the same time. Ciri is to be the lead protagonist of the new trilogy of The Witcher games but thereās no indication of who will be the main playable character in this new DLC.
A second, smaller scale, title is also apparently planned for 2026 but thereās no indication of what it is or if it has any connection to The Witcher, Cyberpunk, or anything else. If it has a budget smaller than DLC though itās most likely to be a mobile title of some kind or perhaps a new version of card game Gwent.
Chrzanowski pegs the release date of The Witcher 4 for the fourth quarter of 2027, i.e. between October and December. The only official information we have on the release date, from CD Projekt, is that the game wonāt be out next year.
Itās suggested that external studio Foolās Theory has been moved off The Witcher 1 remake to help out with The Witcher 4. That would explain why the remake hasnāt been heard about in a while, with the predicted release date now put at 2028.
The report is very antiseptic in its discussion, since all itās interested in is what this means for investors, but the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer project codenamed Orion is predicted to have a release date of Q4 2030, to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the original game.
At the same time, the multiplayer spin-off for The Witcher, codenamed Sirus, has apparently been pushed back to 2028.
Finally, the project codenamed Hadar is apparently still in the pre-concept stage and wonāt be out until at least 2032. Itās a new IP, thatās believed to be sci-fi related, but beyond that nothing is known about it.
Itās certainly a busy slate of titles but since itās been a long while since CD Projekt released a brand new game more DLC for The Witcher 3 doesnāt sound like such a bad idea. It may even start a new trend, for older single-player games to be revived with new DLC to promote their successor.
