You can check out this new RPG on Steam for free, and it’s one for The Witcher 3 and Valheim fans.
Sometimes, no matter how good a trailer appears to be, we can all get duped. It’s happened to the best of us. For example, do you remember that epic and heartbreaking announcement trailer for Dead Island in 2011?
Don’t get me wrong, Dead Island ended up being a decent enough game, but it was in no way, shape, or form anything like that trailer led us to believe. Well, other than zombies and death in a hotel, but what else is new in a UK Travelodge nowadays?
Thankfully, at least, we have access to a plethora of free game demos, trials and beta tests. Sure, a full game can have some differences, but for the most part, getting a proper sample of gameplay is often the best indication of whether or not we should part with our hard-earned cash.

One game that has a playtest coming up is Outward 2, developed and published by Nine Dots Studio, which is set to be released sometime around the middle of 2026.
“Outward 2 is a challenging action RPG with survival elements, focusing on a grounded experience. There’s no hand-holding, no scaled encounters, no divine blessings to make you tower over your enemies,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam. “Eat your meal, check your map, grab your backpack: an unforgiving, rewarding adventure awaits.”
The free playtest will begin on Tuesday, 9 December and end on Monday, 15 December 2025.
During this time, you can experience the underground city of Haboob either with players online or some old-school, split-screen co-op.
Furthermore, if selected for the playtest, your feedback will help shape the final version of the game when it releases next year.
To be in with a chance of taking part in the Outward 2 playtest, you can register your interest via the official Nine Dots Studio website.
“Nice! I wish all registered players the best of luck in being selected,” said Kzaix, in the comments section of the playtest announcement trailer.
“Much earlier than expected, nice. May my low-end PC bless them with optimisation recommendations,” pleaded itshypevideos.
“Can’t wait for this game to be released! Wishing everyone who registered good luck on getting accepted!” exclaimed THELEMMONGRAFT.
Outward 2 will also be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
