The WarioWare IP director left Nintendo in February

Goro Abe, who worked on several installments of the Wario saga, specifically WarioWare, has confirmed his departure from Nintendo on X. The 50-year-old spent 26 years with the company.

Abe also confirmed his intention to leave the video game industry as a developer. He will become a professor at Osaka Electro-Communication University.

“I resigned from Nintendo at the end of February. Starting in April, I will work as a professor at Osaka Electro-Communication University.

I will be part of the new program dedicated to game design and social technologies. I plan to devote myself to research on games and their development, and I hope to interact with a wider audience and in more varied ways than before.”

Goro Abe served as director on all games in the WarioWare franchise. His career began in 1999 as a programmer on Wario Land 4.
