The Tomb Raider series aims to reinvent the franchise

Amazon is developing a live-action Tomb Raider series, with Sophie Turner in the role of Lara Croft and filming scheduled for January 2026.

According to an update on the Story Kitchen website, the project aims to reinvent the franchise on a large scale and create a unified narrative universe linking the live-action series and the video games.

The series is being spearheaded by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), with Jonathan Van Tulleken (Shogun) as director/executive producer.

This initiative comes during a period of transformation for the license, with Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition recently just released on Nintendo platforms and a new season of The Legend of Lara Croft, a Tomb Raider animated series produced by Netflix, arriving this month.
