So, it seems we can potentially expect the next Steam Machine to be sold at a fairly high price. While the price is yet to be announced, Valve has revealed an important detail about the pricing of its device.
In a video posted on its YouTube channel, Linus Tech Tips mentioned a major detail communicated by a Valve spokesperson at an event that specified that the Steam Machine “will be priced like a PC rather than a console.”
“Valve was unable to provide specific figures due to the rapidly changing market, but they will obviously have final prices when the Steam Machine launches in the first quarter of 2026, along with the new Steam Controller.
They did give me a hint, though: they said that while they expect the price to be very competitive compared to a PC, it will be based on the price of a PC, not a console, whose initial cost would be offset by games.”
So a price tag of over $700 or even $800 (the price of the PS5 Pro) seems more than likely. Of course, the 512GB version will be less expensive than the one with 2TB of storage.
