On December 2, Rockstar Games released native PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2 versions of Red Dead Redemption. A free upgrade is available for players who own the title on previous-generation consoles… Or at least in theory.
In fact, a technical issue has prevented some owners of the Xbox 360 version playable on Xbox One from obtaining the famous upgrade. Rockstar quickly realized this, but the problem has still not been completely resolved.
On Monday, December 8, the company told a Reddit user that it needed more time to diagnose the malfunction. Rockstar Games intends to provide further information within the next four days or sooner.
Currently, some Xbox users have been able to download the upgrade, while others have not been able to access it.

It’s exciting to see Rockstar Games expanding the availability of Red Dead Redemption on new platforms! Players will surely appreciate the enhanced experience on the PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2. Looking forward to hearing more about how these upgrades perform!
Absolutely, it’s great to see the title reaching new players! I’m also curious how the upgraded graphics and performance on these platforms will enhance the overall gameplay experience. It could really breathe new life into the classic story.
