The portable console market is slowly becoming saturated. However, a new contender is coming out this week. It’s the OneXfly Apex, which is shaping up to be one of the most powerful alternatives.
The device features an 8-inch 120Hz VRR display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 500 nits brightness, and 100% SRVB color gamut. It is equipped with an AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 SoC with 16 “Zen 5” cores, 40 “RDNA 3.5” GPU cores, and a 256-bit LP5X memory controller. The chip even benefits from liquid cooling provided by an external module. The built-in air cooling system can reach 85-100 W.
The console supports up to 128 GB of integrated LP5X-8000 memory. A PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 slot supporting speeds of up to 7,100 MB/s is also included. A PCIe 4.0 Mini SSD slot (up to 3,500 MB/s) and a TF expansion slot for MicroSD cards up to 2 TB are included. In total, the device’s storage can be expanded up to 8 TB.
The connectivity section features a USB 4 port with 180W charging, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, a USB 3.2 Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. All this comes with a fingerprint reader. In terms of performance, we can achieve 120 FPS on Black Myth: Wukong (low settings), 158 FPS on Forza Horizon 5 (high settings), and 100 FPS on Cyberpunk 2077 (ultra settings). An 85 Wh external battery and an 85 Wh internal battery are also included.
