The Japanese video game industry is thriving, and Atlus is set to raise its employees’ salaries

In recent months, major companies in Japan’s video game industry have chosen to raise their teams’ salaries. Konami, SEGA, and Capcom have all followed suit, despite the challenging global economic climate. Now, it is Atlus’s turn to take a similar step.

The studio behind the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei franchises has announced that, starting in April 2026, recent graduates will be paid 330,000 yen per month (approximately €1,809), up from 300,000 yen (€1,645) previously. In addition, the company will increase the average annual salary of all its employees by approximately 15%. This will apply to both full-time and contract employees.

In its press release, Atlus stated that it aims to β€œstimulate creativity and improve the productivity of every employee.” The primary goal is to invest in human resources to continue delivering high-quality games.

“Despite fluctuations in external factors, such as inflation, we will strive to support our employees so they can live stably and provide them with a safer work environment.”
