Back at CES 2025 last January, PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures announced a film adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn.
As part of the lawsuit between Sony and Tencent concerning the Light of Motiram case, there has been a legal document about the film circulating. The Game Post website was able to view it and is now revealing some details.
Firstly, the feature film already has a script and Sony is looking for a director. The Japanese company plans to start filming in 2026 and release the film in theaters in 2027.
This information comes from PlayStation Productions president Asad Qizilbash in the document.
“We are developing a film based on Horizon in partnership with Columbia Pictures. We already have a script and are actively seeking a director, with the goal of shooting the film in 2026 and releasing it in 2027. This live-action film follows recent collaborations between Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions on the films Uncharted (2022) and Gran Turismo (2023).”
