We might have forgotten, but a Hitman series was in production at Hulu for nearly a decade. Unfortunately, this project led by Derek Kolstad (the creator of John Wick) was recently scrapped.
In fact, Kolstad himself stated during an interview at South by Southwest that the adaptation is “dead in the water.” The project failed to move past the pilot stage despite the pilot script having been written.
This Hitman series was supposed to be a thriller in the vein of Jason Bourne, featuring a younger Agent 47 (with hair) just starting his career.
It’s always disappointing to see a project that had such potential get canceled, especially after so long in development. The Hitman franchise has a dedicated fan base, so it’s understandable that many will be feeling let down by this news. Hopefully, there will be other opportunities for similar stories in the future.
