The GPD Win 5 prices have been confirmed in China, with Bazzite OS compatibility

GPD has officially announced the prices for its new Win 5 portable console in China. Based on the Ryzen AI Max 385 and Max+ 395 APUs, it will be available in several configurations ranging from RMB 8,699 (~$1,220) for the 385/32 GB version to RMB 12,999 (~$1,825) for the 395 model with 64 GB of memory. A 128 GB version is mentioned, but its price remains unknown. GPD says that the global launch, scheduled for October 17, could start below $1,500.

The Win 5 abandons the integrated keyboard of previous models and adopts an 80 Wh external battery. Cooling is provided by a dual-fan/quad-heatpipe system, with an announced TDP of up to 75 W. Another confirmation is compatibility with Bazzite OS, a Fedora Atomic-based distribution that uses the SteamOS interface and supports external AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA GPUs. That said, Windows 11 remains available as an option for those interested.

Key features include:

  • 7-inch 1080p 120 Hz display
  • Up to 64 GB (or even 128 GB) of LPDDR5X 8000 MT/s
  • 1/2/4 TB NVMe storage + mini-SSD extension
  • Radeon 8060S (RDNA 3.5, 40 CU) up to 2.9 GHz
