The Game Awards are overdue for a board game category

The Game Awards revealed this year’s nominees on Monday. The Game of the Year contenders weren’t unexpected, though a few of them made history in the process. Those nominations generated controversy too, like they often do, and showed that the jury still has a way to go in evaluating games on the margins, like mobile games.
