While there was much excitement surrounding the announcement of the remake of the Greek trilogy God of War, some players now fear heavy censorship of Kratos’s early adventures. After all, these titles were known for their extreme violence and sometimes risquรฉ mini-games.
During these sequences, Kratos could indulge in certain pleasures in order to win red orbs. These sexual mini-games have become almost cult classics, but may not be in line with current mores and could therefore be removed from the remakes.
During a stream, Alanah Pearce, who worked as a writer at Santa Monica Studio, made a small revelation about these famous mini-games. She herself stated that she had worked with someone responsible for those and that they were “largely worked on by women” on the development team.
“In fact, when you walk into, I think it’s Aphrodite’s chamber, this was designed โ again, including a group of women โ to look like a labia. Like, it’s literally designed to be evocative of a vagina. And the women were the ones who did that.
When you look at it, it makes sense, but I feel like a lot of people didn’t notice that. I worked with one of the women who worked on these, and she was, like, very proud of it, and it was really fucking cool.”
Pearce concludes by saying that she would like these erotic mini-games to be kept in the remakes. She does not consider them disrespectful to women.
