The remastered version of seminal Bethesda RPG – The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered – is now finally available in physical form. As confirmed by the company just last month, the Physical Deluxe Edition of the title is out now for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Along with the game itself, which is included in a disc, the release also includes codes that can be used by players to download the Deluxe Edition contents.
This additional content includes both of the expansions that was originally released for Oblivion – Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine – as well as some extras like Fighter’s Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, Mehrune’s Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard’s Tower, The Orrery, and Horse Pack Armour. There are also unique Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon armors, weapons and horse armor sets, along with a digital artbook and the sountrack app. It is worth noting that these things will have to be downloaded separately through the provided code, and are not included among the contents of the game in the disc.
As for the game contents itself, Bethesda has also noted that players will need an Internet connection in order to download game files that weren’t able to be fit into the disc. However, once the download has been completed, players will no longer need to be connected to play.
Bethesda has also made it clear the The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Physical Deluxe Edition is a limited-time release, and will only be available in select regional stores while supplies last. The company hasn’t yet confirmed whether it will do another physical release down the line.
While the company had first confirmed the physical release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered back in September, there was a fair bit of confusion regarding whether or not the release would include all of the game data needed to play on the disc itself, or of it would serve as a code in a box release without any disc. The company confirmed last week that game discs would be included in both the PS5 and Xbox Series X releases of the game.
“The Physical Deluxe Edition includes the base game in disc format for Xbox or PlayStation, along with a code that grants access to the digital story content and digital deluxe content,” wrote Bethesda on social media.
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered was released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S earlier this year. As its name might indicate, the title is essentially a remastered release of the 2006-era open-world RPG that had originally been released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The Remastered version does, however, include quite a few differences from the original, including a revamped leveling system that removes some of the more annoying aspects of the original’s mechanics, as well as improved combat. Along with this, it has also gotten visual enhancements.
