The Division 2 is getting new DLC, a new Incursion and crossplay through 10th anniversary year

Marking the 10th anniversary of the series, Ubisoft has announced a major support plan for Year 8 of The Division 2, including a new Incursion raid, new DLC and crossplay… finally!

It has started with an Anniversary Season of content, which kicked off a couple days ago. Through the month of March, until 2nd April, players will be able to take part in a special event pass that features a rewards themed on other Tom Clancy games, there’s also a thematic return to New York, with free access tot he Warlords of New York expansion, which has been wrapped up in a previously announced Realism mode. This tunes the experience to reduce the UI, make gear and weapon bonuses reflect weight, have ammo recovered from enemies, and make skills have a longer cooldown.

After that, Year 8 will kick on with some long-requested features and updates through its seasons, starting with Rise Up in April. This will include:

  • PvP-focused balancing updates and new content
  • Cross Play across platforms
  • The return of Classified Assignments with new story-driven missions
  • A brand-new Incursion
  • Survivors — the return of winter survival to the franchise
  • And an all-new DLC coming later this year.

Which is teased here:

The Division 2 is a strange game within Ubisoft’s library. After the success of the original game, the sequel jumped to a much less distinctive region with Washington DC in the middle of summer, compared to the snowy New York. While the game enjoyed millions of players through its opening years, and had some major expansion packs, support for it tapered off. Yet, Ubisoft being Ubisoft, they never quite let it die entirely, continuing with regular support, if not eye-catching new content and yearly expansions a la Destiny 2.

Focus shifted to other, newer projects in recent times. The Division Heartland was announced as a free-to-play spin-off in 2020, but cancelled four years later, while The Division Resurgence is a mobile game that has now been confirmed will launch on 31st March. There’s also a full sequel in development, The Division 3.
