Just a few hours left before Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is at The Game Awards 2025 with 12 nominations. A real success for a title with a rather modest budget.
In a recent article, the New York Times reported that Sandfall Interactive spent less than $10 million to develop its critically and commercially acclaimed RPG. The article explains that the French studio “wanted to prove that independent studios were capable of making prestigious games with a budget and staff far smaller than those of the big studios.”
Suffice to say, the gamble paid off. As a reminder, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 cost $300 million and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War cost around $700 million.
