Marvel Cosmic Invasion

Kicking things off in December is Marvel Cosmic Invasion, an old-school beat-’em-up from TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge developer Dotemu. Designed to look and play like a ’90s arcade game–with a few modern touches added–Marvel Cosmic Invasion has a roster of 15 playable characters like Spider-Man and Wolverine alongside obscure heroes like Quasar and Beta Ray Bill.

Destiny 2: Renegades

The next big Destiny 2 expansion (almost) visits a galaxy far (far!) away, as Renegades is a Star Wars-flavored add-on that features weapons and locations inspired by Disney’s sci-fi IP. Assassin’s Creed Shadows

She’s Leaving

She’s Leaving is a first-person survival-horror game with a twist, as you’ll play as both the hunter and the hunted. As a forensic analyst tracking down a serial killer, you’ll get to explore the dimly lit halls of an ancient home as you track down missing people. However, you’re not quite alone and someone is watching your every move in this tale of dangerous obsessions.

Let It Die: Inferno

The Let It Die franchise isn’t ready to, well, die, yet. The next game in the series is billed as a roguelike survival-action adventure, and as an immortal Raider, it’s up to you to plunge into the chaotic depths of the Hell Gate. Scavenge for resources, try to stay alive, and craft weapons that can help you escape the pit in mostly one piece.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Nintendo is closing out 2025 with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. In development for what roughly feels like forever, the next chapter in the Metroid Prime saga adds two new things to the franchise: a chatty sidekick and a motorcycle. The game will also feature mouse controls via the Joy-Con 2 if you’re playing on Switch 2, for that added layer of accuracy when blasting away at goons.

Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow

Thief is sneaking back into action for the first time in over a decade, but you’re going to need a VR headset for this one. Like the classic games, you’ll need to use your skills to steal, evade, and outsmart your enemies in this stealth-action game. Not only will you discover the darkest secrets of the City, but you’ll have to contend with forces hellbent on stopping you from exposing a sinister conspiracy.

Blood: Refreshed Supply

Monolith Productions is sadly no more, but one of the developer’s formative games is getting a new lease on life from Nightdive Studios. Blood: Refreshed Supply sees the cult-classic FPS–and its hilariously dark arsenal of weapons–resurrected for the modern age, and this version has been rebuilt from the original source code. It has remastered cutscenes, all of its expansion content, high-resolution support, and more quality-of-life features to help you survive against Tchernobog’s evil Cabal of loyal cultists and monsters.

Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows

Because waiting until March 2026 for a new Elden Ring Nightreign is an unacceptable proposition, From Software has decided to move the release date for The Forsaken Hollows to December. The $15 expansion adds two new Nightfarers–a book-wielding Scholar and a hooded Undertaker–more enemies, and the new Shifting Earth event, The Great Hollow. This will generate a “great cavity in the depths of Limveld” that will give players new ruins to explore, but you’ll want to keep an eye out for crystals that produce a life-draining miasma.

Octopath Traveler 0

Loosely based on the mobile game Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, Octopath Traveler 0 sees players venture to Osterra. Following an attack that results in the destruction of the city, the focus turns to rebuilding Wishvale and exacting revenge on the people responsible for the devastation. Like other Octopath Traveler games, there’ll be dozens of characters to recruit to your side and turn-based combat to master. During your journey, the new characters and resources you’ll gather will help in the reconstruction of Wishvale.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Another first-party Xbox game is headed to PS5 this month in the form of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Touching down on the Sony console, the game features the same accurately rendered world, flight paths, and aircraft as the PC and Xbox Series X|S versions. PlayStation games can also expect features designed specifically for the DualSense controller to enhance immersion, and a free update in 2026 will add support for the PS VR2 headset.

Skate Story

A killer combo of skateboarding, deals with the devil, and a seemingly impossible challenge, Skate Story is more than just a stylish take on extreme sports. Standing in your way are obstacles and boss fights, and one wrong move could see your fragile skater shatter into a million pieces. Skate Story will also be added to the PS Plus Game Catalog on its launch day.

Unbeatable

Originally scheduled for release in November, Unbeatable was delayed to December 9. The rhythm-adventure game is set in a dystopian world where music is illegal, and you need to commit some musical crimes–sort of like an anime-inspired Footloose. The game follows the story of Beat and her band as they go on the run, and there’s an entire album of original tracks to tap your foot as you break the law.

Mutant Football League 2

We’ve had some great football games this year, but they’ve all had a high regard for player safety and fields that aren’t littered with deathtraps. Fortunately,Mutant Football League 2 is out this month, and it’s once again focused on 8-vs-8 arcade-style action between teams of Orcs, mutants, undead skeletons, and murderous robots. Like NFL Blitz meets Evil Dead, the game will have 36 MFL teams to choose from, buildcrafting to help improve your team’s abilities with what we’re certain are completely legal performance-enhancers, and a stadium-editor mode that can turn every match into a game of life and horrific death.

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader

Switch 2 owners looking to explore a grimdark galaxy andmake some cash can check out Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. The isometric turn-based tactical-combat game has been a big hit on PC and console, thanks to its strategic gameplay, engrossing storylines, and enough content to keep you busy for dozens of hours.

Star Trek: Infection

Virtual reality might just be the final frontier for Star Trek, and this new game will boldly go where no game in the franchise has gone before: survival-horror. Bluey’s Quest for the Gold Pen

Australia’s finest export, the Heeler Family of Bluey fame is coming to PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch for an all-new fantasy adventure. This looks like it’ll be a big draw for fans of the popular animated series, as the game features nine distinct realms for Bluey and Bingo to explore as they track down the Gold Pen. It’ll launch for iOS and Mac first, with console and PC releases scheduled for June 25, 2026.

Terminator 2D: No Fate

Several delays later, Terminator 2D: No Fate finally has a December release date–for real this time. Speaking of games related to filmmaker James Cameron,Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora DLC From the Ashes arrives on the same day as the next film in the sci-fi franchise. From the Ashes sees you play as the battle-hardened Trr’ong clan Na’vi So’lek, who faces off against the RDA and the violent Ash clan, which has allied itself with the human invaders.
