The ARC Raiders developers rejected the free-to-play model following the success of games such as Helldivers 2

ARC Raiders is giving quite a lot to talk about this week. Once again, it was during his interview with GamesBeat that Patrick Söderlund, president of Embark Studios, revealed a new detail.

Söderlund said he rejected the free-to-play business model for ARC Raiders after seeing the success of other games such as Helldivers 2. The team opted for a price tag of around €40 in order to keep the game “relatively affordable” while still bringing in money for the studio.

Embark Studios was aware that the lack of a single-player campaign would make ARC Raiders unattractive if sold at full price. As such, the goal was to ensure that players got their money’s worth.
