After several delays, Terminator 2D: NO FATE has finally come out on all current platforms. Deliberately retro with its pixelated graphics and 2D platform style, the title from Bitmap Bureau is far from unanimous acclaim.
On Metacritic, it currently has an average rating of 73% (13 reviews) for its PC version. On PS5, the score is 69% (10 reviews). Players have rated the game 6.9/10. It should be noted, however, that the Steam average is more satisfactory, with ‘very positive’ reviews and 83% favourable opinions out of the 874 published.
The nostalgic aspect of Terminator 2D: NO FATE seems to work, with a story faithful to the second film and several possible branches. The game also has good replay value with its arcade, training and infinite modes.
However, many criticise the campaign for being far too short. After all, you can manage to complete it in less than two hours.
