Tales of Xillia Remastered: Game quality leaves much to be desired on Switch and Switch 2

Released on October 30 on consoles and PC, Tales of Xillia Remastered appears to offer uneven quality across different platforms. While PS5, Xbox Series, and PC players enjoy a smooth experience at 60 FPS (or more), those on Nintendo machines have reason to complain.

RPG Site reveals that Bandai Namco’s title runs at 1080p in TV mode, 720p in portable mode, and 30 FPS on Switch 1. While this is not surprising given the console’s capabilities, the game suffers from significant frame rate drops and very blurry rendering. The lack of texture filtering and anti-aliasing is regrettable. NPCs also appear at the last moment.

Furthermore, the Switch 2 version does not benefit from any boost in the game’s definition or frame rate. The only real improvement is that Tales of Xillia Remastered no longer drops below 30 frames per second. Unfortunately, since the game remains in 720p in portable mode, the image quality is even worse on the Switch 2’s large 1080p screen.

Let’s hope for a Switch 2 upgrade to improve all this.
