After a very encouraging start with more than 3.5 million units sold in four days, the Switch 2 seems to be slowing down in the Western market. The Game Business website has compiled some interesting statistics.
In the United States, during the holiday season (November-December), sales of the Switch 2 fell by around 35% compared to the Switch 1 during the same period in 2017. A similar observation was made in the United Kingdom, with a 16% decline recorded over the last eight weeks of the year. In France, a country largely won over to Nintendo’s cause, sales of the Switch 2 were around 30% lower than those of the Switch 1 in its first year.
A representative of the Japanese company told The Game Business that these results can be explained by a complex economic context, higher prices, and the absence of a major game specifically dedicated to the Western market at Christmas.
