A surprise remake of a PlayStation 1 classic is confirmed to be coming to the PS5, according to the game’s creator.

What PS5 remake has been confirmed by its creator?

In a recent interview with Retro Gamer (via the Rayman Merchandise X account), Rayman creator Michael Ancel said that the first Rayman game would be receiving an HD rerelease at some point. “I don’t remember when specifically, but it will be in HD and I think Ubisoft is adding a few more checkpoints and things like that just to make it a bit less frustrating,” said Ancel. “I think it’s a nice move, because that’s the only point that could be a problem for non-skilled players.”

The news seems to confirm earlier reporting of the game’s existence. Previously, it was noted that a Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition is apparently developed by Atari, and will be distributed by U&I Entertainment, which has previously handled physical releases of Ubisoft games.

According to known insider Tom Henderson, Ubisoft is currently working on two Rayman projects, one of which is the leaked 30th Anniversary Edition. Henderson claims its release date is “very, very soon.”

As for the other project, it’s reportedly a Rayman Legends remake that is in the works. It’s still unclear what either project will include, or when they will be released, however.

We’ll update our readers when we have more information. Ubisoft could do with some positive news following its recent business troubles, which include but aren’t limited to the cancellation of the highly-anticipated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake.
