Now that the PlayStation State of Play has ended, Nintendo has stepped in with some surprise news of its own. The company, completely by surprise, has released a new Fire Emblem game for mobile devices called Fire Emblem Shadows, and it’s an unlikely blend of strategy and social deduction.
Fire Emblem Shadows gives players control of a party of warriors, and asks them to choose between Light and Shadow. As the team progresses through dungeons, the player must determine which of his allies is a traitor, and act accordingly before it’s too late.
Battles play out in a strategy format that doesn’t quite follow the usual Fire Emblem way, but does contain some elements of it. Instead of turn-based action, battles take place in real time, though players can designate certain parts of the arena for each character to focus on.
