Suddenly, There Are 14 New Games You Can Try For Free

Gaming showcases have been flying at a consistent rate since the year began, and the latest instalment of the Indie Fan Fest has just wrapped up. Like previous shows, this was a sizzle reel of over 50 upcoming games, ranging from hotly anticipated titles like Denshattack to potential timesinks like Hidden Around the World, Wax Heads, and Vultures: Scavengers of Death. The best part about this show is that many of these games have demos available for them, and you can head on over to Steam to try them out.

Several of the games shown off today also have demos, and we’ve rounded them all up below in case they’ve been on your radar.

Don’t forget, it’s Steam Next Fest soon

By the time you’re done checking out these game demos, you can grab even more during Steam Next Fest. The February 2026 edition of the event kicks off on February 23 and runs through March 2. We’ll be covering that as well, and you can look forward to a big list of must-play game demos.

Denshattack

Jet Set Radio meets Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater in Denshattack, and if you’re keen to see how that plays out, you can try this demo for yourself right now. As a rebellious teenager who has joined a movement to reclaim the abandoned railways of Japan, you’ll get to pull off some slick tricks in this literal on-rails preview.

Raccoin Coin Pusher Roguelike

Some people say that the safest place to weather an earthquake is under a table, but an opportunistic person would hover around a Coin Pusher instead. The arcade tipping point machine is getting a roguelike overhaul in this game, and you can try the demo out for yourself.

Wax Heads

A cozy-punk narrative sim about managing a struggling record store, this early look at Wax Heads will let you chat to quirky customers, cater to their eclectic tastes, and slack off with your colleagues on a slow work day.

Hidden Around the World

A hidden-object adventure game that features beautiful art and cozy vibes, Hidden Around the World lets you explore beautiful hand-drawn cities inspired by real places around the globe, like Paris, Tokyo, and New York City.

Soul Quest

For some old-school hack-and-slash action, sit down with the new demo for Soul Quest to get a quick taste of the full game’s fantasy setting, Celtic folklore inspirations, and a tale about how love can conquer death.

Vultures: Scavengers of Death

What if ’90s Resident Evil was a tactical turn-based survival-horror experience? That’s the question that Vultures: Scavengers of Death is looking to answer, and this new demo puts you in the combat boots of an operative exploring a metropolis populated by infected enemies.

Call of the Elder Gods

Ahead of the game’s eventual release, you can play the first part of this Lovecraftian puzzle-adventure game. Save data will also carry over to the full game.

Fishbowl

Described as a narrative game about dreams, grief, and hope, Fishbowl is a visual novel about becoming an adult and reexamining your childhood memories.

Atmosfar

Set on an alien planet full of floating islands, the demo for Atmosfar will give you a preview of how you’ll navigate between these hovering hubs using a variety of tools, vehicles, and resources.

Romestead

Rebuilding civilization is easier said than done, but you can flex your reconstruction muscles in this action-adventure survival game for 1-8 players.

Dungeons of Dusk

Dusk is widely regarded as one of the best boomer shooters out there, but can it also conquer the genre of dungeon-crawling? You can find out for yourself with this demo ahead of the game’s release later this year.

Hordes of Fate

Deckbuilding meets the auto-shooter genre in this demo, as you’ll need to draw cards, unlock new heroes, and slay an obscene number of enemies that the enigmatic Dealer throws at you.

Australia Did It

Another mash-up with the reverse-bullet-hell genre, Australia Did It combines that gameplay with turn-based tower defense ideas. Overall, expect to deploy units, explore powerful combinations, and see how well they stack up against relentless waves of enemies looking to stop you from delivering goods.

Wild Tactics

A character-driven tactical strategy game that looks like it would fit right into the lineup of a ’90s Disney Saturday morning cartoon? There’s definitely an audience for the kind of game that features a ragtag crew of misfits with a gung-ho attitude to stopping a sinister conspiracy in the city of Clawville.

Even more demos

These game demos have been out for a while now, but if you’re in the mood for retro-inspired vehicular combat, a first-person survival-adventure set in Finnish forests, or an action-RPG roguelike that looks like The Office meets Lord of the Rings, give these a quick download.
