After the Sly Cooper and inFamous franchises, Sucker Punch brought us the incredible Ghost of Tsushima in 2020, followed by Ghost of Yotei this month. More than five years have passed between these two titles, and this pace is unlikely to change.
In an interview with VGC, studio head Brian Fleming reiterated his desire to keep a relatively small team for creating big-budget games. Sucker Punch currently has approximately 239 employees, so we shouldn’t expect to see the studio take on multiple projects at the same time.
“The truth is, whatever the next step is, whether it’s a sequel to Ghost or a return to Sly, the decision is more limited by, again, our concern for focus and time to iterate, which means we can really only do one thing at a time.
If we were able to juggle four projects, yes, we would have a remaster, and we would make one game, and another, and we would honor fan requests, it would be really popular… But we can only do one thing at a time.”
So Sucker Punch will probably not release its next game for at least five years, so on PS6.
