Popular Twitch streamer Emiru has publicly challenged Twitch’s official response following an assault at her TwitchCon meet-and-greet, calling its statement “a blatant lie.” The incident, which was caught on video, shows a man bypassing event barriers to approach Emiru, grabbing her face in an attempt to kiss her before being shoved away by a security guard.
While Twitch claimed in a statement that the individual was “immediately” removed and banned, Emiru contests that the response was delayed and ineffective, adding that Twitch staff failed to intervene or check on her well-being afterward.
Someone assaulted Emiru at her Meet & Greet at Twitchcon. Security pushes the perpetrator away, but then turns back and allows the man to walk away. (???) Emiru comes back shortly after to continue meeting fans.

Twitch’s statement emphasized its commitment to safety, condemning the assailant’s actions as “unacceptable and deeply upsetting.” The platform claimed it had blocked the individual from returning to the event and issued a permanent ban from Twitch and its associated events. It also outlined enhanced security measures for the remainder of TwitchCon, including additional personnel around meet-and-greet areas. However, Emiru’s detailed recount of the events suggests a significant discrepancy between Twitch’s official narrative and what she says occurred on the ground.
