If you need a Stranger Things fix, then this promising sequel coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S might help to scratch that itch.
Last week, after nine years on Netflix, Stranger Things came to an emotional end, and while the fifth and final season was by no means perfect, at least in my opinion, I loved the concluding moments of the episode ‘The Rightside Up’.
Without giving too much away, where so many series have fallen at the final hurdle, I think that episode wrapped things up wonderfully, and I was left feeling content with what I had just watched. Unlike that final season of Game of Thrones. But enough of that.
That being said, it’s not quite the end of Stranger Things just yet. Not only are we getting a special bonus episode later this month, but a spin-off prequel is also in the works that looks to explain how things came to be in the main series.
However, if you’re after another Stranger Things fix (of sorts) but want something a little different, then you might want to check out this upcoming sequel for PC and Xbox. Albeit, rather than having Demogorgons, this game has rusty metal monster things.
What Is The Stranger Things-inspired Game In Question?

The game in question is Echo Generation 2, an action RPG adventure, developed and published by the indie team at Cococucumber.
“Echo Generation 2 is a sci-fi tactical turn-based adventure from the creators of the award-winning Echo Generation (Best Indie Game, Best Narrative, Best Soundtrack),” reads the description of the game. “You are Jack, an ordinary dad on an extraordinary mission, who’s been trapped in a mysterious new dimension. Lost among the stars, you set out on a journey to find a way home, armed with your wits, your crew, and some seriously lethal skills.”
After watching the gameplay trailer, the Stranger Things inspiration is quite clear to see, but it’s also different enough, visually and in terms of gameplay, to potentially stand as its own entity. All in all, Echo Generation 2 looks quite promising.
Echo Generation 2 does not have a release date at the time of writing, other than a tentative 2026 release window. But you can at least add it to your wishlist to be notified of its launch.
When Echo Generation 2 is released, it will be available on PC via Steam and Xbox Series X/S. It will also launch on Xbox Game Pass.
