Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has revealed a lot more about Stranger Than Heaven, the next open world crime drama from the studio that brings a shifting time and place to its tale, set across five eras and five Japanese cities.
The trailer confirmed that Stranger Than Heaven will take place across 1915, 1929, 1943, 1951, and 1965, and its events will also jump between five different cities.
Speaking to Xbox Wire, RGG Studio Representative & Executive Producer, Masayoshi Yokoyama said, “As you can imagine, 5 cities and 5 eras is a massive undertaking. We’re putting a tremendous amount of care into bringing to life these times and places we feel are rarely explored in games. It’s truly a unique experience you can’t get anywhere else.”
The trailer also shows off the ramped up real time combat, which Yokoyama-san described as being “an all-new level of combat design from us, and what you saw is just the tip of the iceberg with much more to be revealed soon.”
This trailer is really just a teaser for a bigger showcase that will present more of the game in May. On 6th May in US timezones and 7th May around the rest of the world, RGG will hopefully really take the lid off this exciting new game. Those times will be:
- PDT: May 6, 4pm
- EDT: May 6, 7pm
- BST: May 7, 12am
- CEST: May 7, 1am
- JST: May 7, 8am
- AEST: May 7, 9am
Stranger Than Heaven is in development for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC, and will launch day one on Xbox Game Pass. It will also be an Xbox Play Anywhere title, but no word on an actual release date just yet.
