Steam Slips 4 New Free Games Into Your Halloween Stocking

Steam Slips 4 New Free Games Into Your Halloween Stocking

If you’ve been here before, you’ll know that I don’t care about your backlog.

I don’t want to know if it’s breaking at the seams. It’s not going to stop me from filling you in on the latest free games to land on Steam.

After all, something may take your eye and what’s the harm in adding one or two more games to the pile?

As always, thank you to SteamGamesPC for bringing these to our attention.

There are four titles to go through, so I’ll, as always, try and help you identify the hits from the misses.

Let’s begin with a game that looks like a hit to me.

Googunners is a brand new RNG arcade turret defence game with a simple goal.

You’ll want to shoot asteroids, bagging upgrades in the process, in the hopes of earning the game’s high score.

It’s been developed by Tayden and published by Gooverse Games, which is a very apt name.

Already, this one boasts a ā€˜Positive’ review score.

ā€œHard to complain when it’s free. Definitely worth a download,ā€ read one simple review. You can’t ask for much more than that.

The remaining titles on this list have far less of a review consensus but we’ll go with Gem Hunter Match next from GameForgeNewWorld.

It’s basically like Candy Crush or games of that ilk where you need to match items in a row, eliminating them from the board.

It doesn’t have great reviews as it apparently only takes five minutes to complete.

I don’t mind a short game but that’s taking it a bit far so this one might end up on the miss pile.

Let’s go with Verdant Forest next, a dark fantasy action-adventure game from Oba gOat studio.

In this title, you’ll play as magician Abigail ā€œas she explores a cursed forest, battles cultists and monsters, casts spells, dodges attacks, and manages mana to surviveā€.

ā€œDestroy the barrier’s ritual to aid the knights in this tense, skill-driven journey,ā€ the synopsis teases.

It’s a pretty simple game with players able to use WASD controls to move and the mouse to cast spells.

Even still, it seems charming enough.

There’s no extensive review consensus but one player has left a positive thumbs up.

Finally, I bring you Ghost Shock from developer Wingjoy Games which describes itself as ā€œan asymmetric single-player action gameā€.

ā€œAt the beginning of the battle, the player controls a hero with extraordinary power. After being defeated, he will randomly turn into a monster, and the monster that gets the last blow will turn into a hero and continue to fight,ā€ the description begins.

ā€œIn the end, the player will challenge the boss controlled by three ghosts, or control the boss with two ghosts to meet the challenge of the hero.ā€

It’s a very to-the-point description, but at least you know what to expect.

This one doesn’t have a review consensus at all, so you’ll just have to give it a go if you like the sound of it to see if it’s any good.

It boasts a very attractive pixel art aesthetic; the screenshots are certainly appealing so that’s something.

All of the above titles are totally free and available to enjoy on Steam now, so dive in if there’s something you like the look of.
