Steam New Free Game Has 97% User Rating, Set at Christmas

It’s nearly Christmas and this latest Steam freebie is the perfect game to get you in the mood, and it comes highly recommended.

The time is almost upon us when we can all settle down, kick our feet up and enjoy the festive season. For many Chrismtas will be a time to spend with family, watching classic films like It’s A Wonderful Life and Home Alone, or play some festive video games.

Now the list of Christmas games is a short one but like how many say Die Hard is a Christmas film you can sometimes have a similar argument for certain games.

12, Memory Lane is absolutely a Christmas game though, there’s no doubt about it.

Available on Steam, 12, Memory Lane is a first-person puzzle game about solving a family mystery over the Winter period.

Its description reads: “Explore the shifting manor of the enigmatic Henri Villemaine and uncover the truth behind his family’s sudden disappearance. Bend reality to recreate the scenes from his diary and expose long-buried secrets. What if your role in this case went beyond that of a simple investigator?”

Steam users can play it for free and so far it’s sitting comfortably at a Positive rating with over 40 reviews. Here’s what’s being said about it.

“Beat the game with 6/7 achievements,” began one review.

“A super chill realistic walking sim game where you piece objects together using sticky notes to progress throughout a haunted mysterious mansion. The game has magnificent immersion with surreal Christmas vibes and lighting. I loved the experience.”

Another positive recollection said: “Started the game because it looked pretty. Two hours later, finishing it, crying in my bed doing an existential crisis.”

Finally one more described it as “a very well made puzzle game that focuses on deduction”.

It added: “Looks great, even if most models are free assets. In some parts I felt like I needed to guess the correct answer, but maybe I had missed some clues. That said, it’s short, free, interesting and fun.”

It looks gorgeous, plays well and from the sound of things the puzzles are actually fun to solve rather than being tedious.

Plus it’s free so what more could you ask for?

For those looking for something festive to play in the build-up to Christmas 12, Memory Lane sounds like your cup of tea, so grab it while you can and dive right in.
