Steam Hit Free Game Is Consuming: ‘I’ve Played For 200 Hours’

Last year brought us some incredible games including the likes of Astro Bot, Balatro, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Black Myth: Wukong, Silent Hill 2, and Star Wars Outlaws to name just a few.

It also delivered a title that may have passed you by, Banana.

That’s the name of the game; I’m not calling you a banana.

Developed by Sky, AestheticSpartan, and O’Brian, Banana is an indie clicker game that launched on PC via Steam in April of 2024.

The aim of the game is very simple: you click a banana.

That probably doesn’t sound very engaging but here me out.

Every time you click the banana, you get more bananas with there being various nanas up for grabs each with varying rarities.

Normal bananas have a 70% chance of spawning, while common bananas have a 25% chance.

Uncommon sit at 4.89%, rare at 0.1%, epic at 0.01%, ultra rare at one in 400,000, and legendary at one in 10,000,000.

Every 30 minutes, you’ll also get gifted a random banana.

It’s not a gameplay loop that’s for everyone, sure, but it didn’t take long for Banana to prove a massive hit with Steam players.

To this day, it boasts a ‘Mostly Positive’ review score on Steam where players claim to have had their lives consumed by this unassuming title.

“This Banana is suitable for casual entertainment, dropping regular bananas. I’ve played it for almost 200 hours,” one player wrote.

“This is probably the best game I have ever played. Graphics are good. Bananas are yummy,” added another.

“It’s a banana. I don’t know why I like it… but I do. Very easy to 100%,” read one review.

“Game straight forward get banana! Then open game once every three hours until you exchange five times boom 100%,” said another.

I’m sure you get the idea.

Click the banana, get another banana.

It’s totally free to play on Steam so even if you’re unsure about Banana, I reckon it’s worth a play.

As for the game’s features, well, they’re a bit tongue in cheek.

The game contains “bananas, obviously”, “items to grow your collection”, achievements, “a community that’s bananas”, and you can “design submission via discord”.

“That’s right ! ALL our bananas are made with community effort and inspiration, come join the fun”, so you might be able to click your own banana .. if that doesn’t sound weird.

It is nice to see the community embraced as a key part of this zany, unexpected success.
