Steam Cosy Free Offering Is an Adorable New Platforming Adventure

Did you know that otters hold hands whilst they’re sleeping so they don’t drift away from one another?

Oh, how whimsical and pleasant it must be to be an otter.

Well, now you can experience that feeling for yourself courtesy of a charming new cosy demo which has landed on PC storefront Steam.

Developed by Soulworks Interactive, Otterly Lost is an upcoming cosy platformer set to launch in full in 2026.

You play as the aptly named Otto who is, rather sadly, swept far away from home.

Your goal is to get back to from whence you came, exploring forests, diving underwater, gliding over canyons, and climbing across a beautiful landscape.

It’s by no means a hardcore platformer; devs say that you can “meet friendly animals, complete quests, and enjoy soft challenges at your own pace”.

“Otterly Lost is a cosy, story-rich adventure about wonder, friendship, and finding where you belong,” the synopsis reads.

“You play as Otto, a curious sea otter who got swept away from his mountain home after a strange and sudden natural disaster.”

“Carried downriver and into the open sea, Otto must now find his way back through an island full of wonders, secrets, and surprises.”

Otto’s goal isn’t simply to return home.

A mysterious earthquake has shaken the island, and Otto can help in restoring balance to the island’s ecosystem.

It’s an open-world that you’ll get to explore and in this demo, you’ll gain access to the game’s early chapters.

They’ll introduce you to Otto and his mission, allowing you to meet some of the island’s other animal inhabitants.

Throughout his travels, Otto will journey through caves, shipwrecks, forests, and across beaches, and there are plenty of chances to admire the view.

You’ll get various tools allowing you to dig up helpful items or smash through obstacles blocking your way.

What are players saying?

It’s early days for Otterly Lost so there’s no Steam review consensus but there are a handful of positive reponses that have trickled in.

“This is fricking adorable and I can’t wait for it to be released. It played perfectly on my laptop. It’s adorable,” one player wrote.

“The game is so cute and I can’t describe how invested I am! I absolutely love this and look forward to the full game release,” added another.

If you’re a cosy gaming fan, I imagine you need no more convincing than that. Give it a try.
