Starfield Major Changes Leaked, Paving Way For Elder Scrolls 6

It looks like Starfield is about to undergo a massive transformation with a bombshell new report coming to light.

Two years on from Starfield’s release, gamers have been disappointed to see that support for the game has dwindled down rather dramatically.

While Bethesda talked a big game back when it was released, the disappointing reception from the audience led to post-launch content slowing down as the company revved up on The Elder Scrolls VI.

In the past year, Starfield has received a handful of updates, and despite rumours suggesting a second expansion was in the works, there is still no sign of it going into 2026.

Starfield Could be About to Get a Major Overhaul

However, a new report suggests the radio silence from Bethesda may be due to a larger overhaul planned to release next year.

According to Windows Central’s Jez Corden, Starfield will be getting a “big upgrade” that has already been shown to a small number of individuals behind closed doors.

Corden claims to have spoken to a few sources who have seen these changes firsthand, writing that “it seems that Starfield will break free of its loading-screen heavy space flight systems.

“Space flight will now feel more free-form and continuous if the rumors are accurate, and various other systems pertaining to space travel and exploration will be improved as well.”

He also claims that the Creation Engine has undergone some changes to accommodate this, and that this will “carry forward to future games,” like The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5.

Corden also claims that Starfield will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 in 2026 as part of these changes.

Bethesda has made an effort to release most of its games cross-platform in the last few years, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Doom: The Dark Ages, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered all releasing on PS5 in addition to Xbox consoles.

However, Starfield has not yet made the leap. It’s possible that the developer will be waiting until Starfield is in a better position before it tries to onboard players from new platforms, so these versions may follow the large relaunch that is allegedly in development.

For now though, nothing concrete has been confirmed by Bethesda.

The developer has teased some updates coming in the future regarding space flight and other features, but is still remaining tight-lipped regarding details for now.
