Starfield is getting several improvements, a new DLC and PS5 and Switch 2 versions in 2026

Bethesda Game Studios is reportedly preparing a number of changes and other new features for Starfield in 2026. Journalist Jez Corden, from the Windows Central website, discussed all these in a recent article.

According to his sources, the game is getting quite the major update. It should offer players greater freedom in terms of space exploration. Piloting our ship from one planet to another could be completely redesigned. To this end, the Creation Engine has undergone major technical improvements that will also be used in future Bethesda Game Studios productions.

In addition, Starfield is reportedly planned for release on PS5 and Switch 2 next year. Optimization work for less powerful machines (such as Nintendo’s) has already been carried out internally.

Finally, a new expansion is also reportedly in the works. According to Corden, it was supposed to be released this year. Microsoft has reportedly decided to postpone it until the first half of 2026 due to a busy release schedule for the end of 2025.

Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt for now.
