If you’re a fan of Stardew Valley, you may be familiar with the various mods and expansions available for the game.
Made by fans, for fans, these mods build upon Stardew Valley‘s already large foundation, adding things that even its developer ConcernedApe hasn’t.
One mod that a lot of fans would recommend is Ridgeside Village, which was originally released five years ago but still gets a decent number of players checking it out.
Stardew Valley: Ridgeside Village Adds A Load Of New Content
Stardew Valley: Ridgeside Village adds the titular village as a new location to visit. It features over 50 new NPCs to interact with (22 of them being available for marriage), as well as new items, new shops, and new festivals.
There’s so much more to the mod too though, including 400 new events, custom music and quests, meaning you have a lot of fresh content to check out. It really is that massive.
Originally released in December 2020, the mod was a rather impressive thing for Stardew Valley fans to enjoy during those late COVID-19 lockdowns. And even five years later, the mod has got Stardew Valley fans talking.
One player asked on the Stardew Valley Reddit page for opinions on the Ridgeside Village mod, particularly for those with Stardew Valley Expanded installed. They got a varied number of responses.
“I enjoy it a lot and appreciate the immense amount of hard work and love that obviously went into it,” reads one reply underneath the thread.

“There’s things I like and dislike,” reads another reply. “It’s nice if you want another big expansion mod. IMO it’s a bit less seamless than SVE (Stardew Valley Expanded) and some of the quests are long. It is playable with SVE if that’s what you’re wondering. I’d recommend starting a new save though.”
“There is one thing that Ridgeside facerolls through (and Sunberry, by the way, as well) in a not good way,” reads another comment. “It is, narratively speaking, too massive to be a village that sits near Pelican Town. Meaning, it has way too much going on in it in comparison – so much so that you may start to wonder what is really a ‘town’ and a ‘village’ between those two.”
Stardew Valley: Ridgeside Village is available to download now from Nexus Mods. Obviously, you can only grab this for the PC version of the game, as console doesn’t support mods.
