Stardew Valley: Monster Mash is Perfect For a Halloween Replay

Stardew Valley fans old and new can get something out of this sweet mod, which brings a better Halloween to the game.

While Stardew Valley is a very peaceful game it has its darker side. You start out managing your farm and meeting the locals and while it’s tough to get going you eventually start making some progress.

But as the game progresses and your need for more materials grows your hunger for valuables will take you to some dark places, filled with monsters and ghouls guarding the best items and resources.

In many ways this makes Stardew Valley more than just a farming game, but a survival horror, and with the Bog’s Monster Mash mod you can ramp up the rewards earnt for facing these evil residents head-on.

The mod retextures some of the monsters found in the game and categorises them into different rarities. As you’d expect the rarer the monster the better the reward you receive for slaying them, making the PvE portion of the game much more rewarding.

From Dust Sprites to Skeletons to Shadow Brutes you’ll see more monsters than ever and get better resources for going out of your way to kill them. You can find the full list of mobs affected as well as pictures of their new designs, plus corresponding rarities, on the Nexus Mods page.

It’s a simple change but one that adds a bit more depth to an otherwise dull part of the game, and would make a great addition to your game just in time for Halloween, or as it’s called in Stardew Valley, Spirit’s Eve.

Bog’s Monster Mash isn’t the only mod you could install either, as there are loads of spooky mods out there that’d turn your farm into a Halloween wonderland.

I’d personally recommend trying Witchy Scarecrows, which is another simple mod overhauls the designs of the game’s scarecrows to look more gothic and wiccan. It doesn’t change what they do in the game but if you’re keen on redecorating for October this is worth considering.

Stardew Valley is a great game to play all year round and will continue to thrive even when the game’s updates have stopped coming, but with these mods installed it becomes a fantastic game to play during the spooky season.
