Stardew Valley has just received a new quality-of-life feature, and it’s something that’ll make playthroughs so much more comfortable.
Picture this: you’re playing Stardew Valley and you’ve just initiated a conversation with your favourite villager.
They’ve asked you a question and the answer is pretty important, and perhaps you’ve made your mind up what your response should be. Or perhaps you haven’t.
Dialogue Confirmation is a new mod added to the Stardew Valley page on Nexus Mods which adds an additional confirmation prompt when making important dialogue selections.
So, if you do hit an option and then instantly regret it, you have a second chance to undo that choice before it becomes canon in your playthrough.
“Ever feel frustrated by selecting an unwanted response to a question?” reads the mod’s official description. “Did you accidentally tell Linus that he could live on your farm? Have you ever clicked off-screen during a question only to click back on the game window and have it select a seemingly random answer?
“This mod helps eliminate the possibility of that happening by requiring a second click on the answer you want to choose. It also prevents the game from automatically selecting a response just for clicking anywhere on the game window. A helpful arrow is also displayed to have visual confirmation of what answer you are selecting.”
And honestly, what a life-saver. There have been quite a few times where I’ve had a situation that’s occurred just like some of the situations laid out like the above.
The interface for it looks pretty solid too, it doesn’t pop-up a new window or give you a generic “are you sure you want to select this?” message.
Instead, it’s just a non-intrusive arrow that feels like it could be a part of the base game. Perhaps ConcernedApe should take some notes and add it in the upcoming 1.7 update that was confirmed to be in the works back in August.
Other Stardew Valley mods we’ve recently covered include the Em’s Dogs expansion, which adds 24 new options for dogs for your character to adopt.
There’s also the Ferngill Arcadium mod, which adds a new arcade full of games which is accessible via Central Station.
Finally, the new Forever Falls farm layout will give you plenty of excuses to come back for a new playthrough. It’s a mod that adds many new options to the farm that you begin the game with, offering new challenges and boosts.
