The excitement for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic â Remake was replaced by curiosity over whatâs to be its âspiritual successorâ â namely, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic. Developed by the recently established Arcanaut Studios and Lucasfilm Games, itâs led by Casey Hudson of the Mass Effect trilogy. Heâs also the director of 2003âs Knights of the Old Republic.
Of course, because of the studioâs recent establishment, there are those, like Bloombergâs Jason Schreier, who believe it wouldnât launch until 2030 (if not later). Hudson responded on Twitter afterwards, telling fans, âDonât worry about the ânot till 2030â rumors. Game will be out before then. Iâm not getting any younger!â
Which is all well and good, but that doesnât mean itâs launching next year or even in 2027. Then again, considering how far away the KOTOR remake seems to be (donât even get us started on the sequelâs alleged remake), itâs better than nothing.
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic doesnât have any platforms, but itâs confirmed to be a single-player narrative action RPG. Players venture through a âgalaxy on the edge of rebirthâ as a Force user, and, like the original, your choices will have an impact.
