The Metacritic website has once again released its ranking of publishers with the highest scores for their new releases in 2025.
To compile this list, only scores awarded by the press to games released between January and December 2025 were taken into account. Player reviews and sales figures are not considered in this ranking.
Square Enix took first place with an average Metascore of 84%. The publisher’s best game is the PC port of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which scored 90%. This marks significant progress for the Japanese company, which ranked sixth in 2024. It succeeds SEGA, which finished first last year.
In second place comes Gamirror Games (Absolum) with 87%. Capcom rounds out the top three. Among the underperformers are Nacon/Daedalic (26th), Arc System Works (27th), and Idea Factory (28th).
