Sony’s New Horizon Games Baffle Fans and We Can See Why

Sony's Horizon game projects confuse fans

Sony recently announced a pair of new Horizon games, and both announcements have left fans confused. One of the new games is Horizon Steel Frontiers, a stunning open-world MMO. The other project is the recently announced Horizon Hunters Gathering, a co-op action game with cartoon-style graphics.

Sony has greenlit two Horizon games, both exclusive to different platforms

The Horizon series has sold over 40 million copies (and counting). Suffice to say, it’s one of Sony’s most successful original IPs.

But Horizon Steel Frontiers, which looks graphically intensive, is exclusive to mobile and PC. That’s right, it’s not been announced for the PS5.

The game that did get announced for the PS5 and PC, Horizon Hunters Gathering, looks more suited to a handheld or mobile device. Yet it’s not releasing on mobile, and unlike Lego Horizon Adventures, it’s skipping Nintendo Switch 1 / 2.

Considering both games are being developed with Sony’s blessing, it’s no surprise that fans are confused as to why one of them is skipping the PS5 and the other is skipping mobile. Meanwhile, PC gamers get both titles.

It really is a missed opportunity, in my humble opinion. I would love to play Horizon Steel Frontiers on the PS5. In the same token, Horizon Hunters Gathering could benefit from being on mobile and Switch.

Here’s hoping Sony makes it happen!
