Sony has introduced a new feature for games purchased on the PS Store, causing some confusion and concern among PS5 and PS4 players. Sometime over the last week, players started noticing that their digital purchases came with a āValid Periodā of 30 days, and weāre not quite sure what this means yet.
What are āvalid start and end datesā on games purchased from PS Store?
The concept of Valid Period itself isnāt new, but the PS Store certainly didnāt apply this to purchased items until now. Multiple threads have popped up on various subreddits, with players questioning what the 30-day validity means.
The most popular theory is that Sony checks licenses for digital downloads every 30 days, and this āvalid periodā is how long a license is good for before it requires a digital check-in.
Players who have contacted Sony Support have only received goofy answers, like this fella being asked to contact the gameās publisher, so that doesnāt help.
My personal guess is that every time a console is online, the Valid Period is extended for another 30 days from that point onwards. Sony is probably trying to plug some kind of loophole it has discovered.
Weāll update our readers when we have more information.
