Virtual reality seems to have definitively fallen off PlayStation’s list of priorities. After all, the PS VR2 is getting virtually no new games, and the remaining ones are gradually disappearing.
Released in August 2023, Firewall Ultra is a shooter in which the player takes on the role of a heavily armed mercenary and will have its online features shut down on September 17, 2026. Since the game requires a connection to the servers to function, it will no longer be playable at all.
Along with Horizon Call of the Mountain, Firewall Ultra was one of two PS VR2 exclusives developed by PlayStation Studios.
It’s always tough to see a game or service come to an end, especially when it had its dedicated fans. It’s interesting to reflect on the evolving landscape of gaming and how priorities shift over time. Hopefully, we’ll see new and exciting developments for VR in the future!
