Someone has turned Red Dead Redemption 2 into Pokémon, and it really shouldn’t work, but somehow it does.
In my humble opinion, Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the greatest video games of all time, as reflected by its all-mighty 97 Metacritic score, more than earning the “Must-Play” accolade. To be fair, the 2010 game starring John Marston also has an equal claim.
Where is Red Dead Redemption 3?
Rockstar Games hasn’t officially announced Red Dead Redemption 3 at this time, especially with all hands on deck gearing up for the release of GTA VI later this year.
That being said, I’m sure it will be announced at some point, but whether it carries the number three in its name remains to be seen. It might also be wise to expect such an announcement to be a couple of years away, if we’re lucky.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Meets Pokémon?!
Yes, you’ve read that right and no, it’s not an April Fool’s joke. Someone has actually turned Red Dead Redemption 2 into a Pokémon game, and it looks quite brilliant.

As shared by the content creator, Blurbs on Twitter, gameplay of a Red Dead Redemption 2 mod that brings Pokémon battle mechanics into the Western game is showcased.

The gameplay features Uncle, offering starter Pokémon inspired by Ekans (a snake), Magikarp (a fish) and Squirtle (a turtle).
You can name your creatures and take them into battle with turn-based combat mechanics. Some of the animations that bring you into the battles are also inspired by Pokémon games of yesteryear.
In all honesty, this has to be one of the best Red Dead Redemption 2 mods that I’ve ever seen and is absolutely not something that would ever be on my bingo card.
“Nintendo lawyers right now, ” joked HermitOnTwitch in the comments, referring to how Nintendo seems to be trigger-happy when it comes to protecting its properties.
“Goated,” declared DANNYonPC.
“This is the best thing I have literally ever seen, good job bro,” praised marcovonchmiel.
Sadly, as is the case with most mods, this is exclusive to the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2.
However, judging by the YouTube upload, this mod may be released to the public once some fixes have been made.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
If Rockstar Games drops any information on Red Dead Redemption 3, we’ll be sure to let you know ASAP.
