Ubisoft has released a teaser trailer for a new Rainbow Six Siege operator, the one and only, Solid Snake.
Rainbow Six Siege has a storied history in its 11-year run across multiple roadmaps, but this announcement has fans more riled up than usual. One Reddit user, posting under the name Extreme-Tactiction on r/games, said they were surprised by the reveal.
“I was blindsided seeing this on my subscription feed. Apparently it’s more than just a skin. It seems to be a full-on operator, a full-on guest operator. That’s crazy. This is the first time they’ve had an official Splinter Cell and Metal Gear crossover.”
In Rainbow Six Siege, an operator is a playable character assigned to a counterterrorism unit. Each operator has a distinct personality, as well as unique gadgets and weapons.

While some people are excited about the new operator release, others are skeptical because of what happened with the previous addition of stealth legend Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell games.
In the same Reddit thread, a user posting under the name JamSa expressed concern, citing the earlier reveal. “Pretty cool but per the Sam Fisher reveal years back I’m expecting his face to look nothing like Solid Snake and him to not be voiced by David Hayter.” Another user, RareBk, shared a similar view, writing, “So there is a 100% chance this will look beyond scuffed, like every other crossover they have ever done, right?”
Solid Snake is now the second iconic operator introduced in Rainbow Six Siege, alongside Sam Fisher. Sam Fisher was added in a previous Rainbow Six Siege expansion, Operation Shadow Legacy, which was released in 2020 as part of the Year 5 Season 3 update.
The full announcement of the Solid Snake operator is expected to arrive with the Year 11 roadmap reveal on Feb. 15. The presentation is expected to detail what weapons and abilities the gaming legend will bring to the game.
