Slay the Spire 2 Sells 3 Million Copies in First Week, Over 25 Million Runs Recorded

Mega Crit Games’ Slay the Spire 2 only debuted in early access last week, but it’s become a monster hit. On top of becoming the biggest rogue-lite launch in Steam history in peak concurrent players, it has sold three million copies in that period.

Community manager Demi revealed this milestone alongside the fact that players have completed over 25 million runs. The scary part is that Mega Crit began tracking this data ā€œa bit after launch,ā€ which means that a ā€œfew millionā€ runs haven’t been accounted for. Suffice to say that fans can’t get enough of the game.

As always, however, what’s next? Slay the Spire 2 has only just begun early access, and there’s still no ā€œspecific timeline or roadmapā€ for ā€œhigh-level content.ā€ However, the development team is working on several features, including quality-of-life for multiplayer, Steam Workshop support, a leaderboard for friends only, an overhaul of the badge/scoring system, balance patches and much more.

Again, no specific timeline on when this will go live, but you can try out the Steam beta branch to test out any changes and new features ahead of time (especially frequent updates to the same are planned).

Slay the Spire 2 is currently exclusive to PC via Steam Early Access. Console versions could happen once after early access, but given how the game is one to two years off – a rough estimate, considering Mega Crit will fall back on ā€œwhen it’s readyā€ – it’s going to be a while.
