Skyrim and Elden Ring fans will want to check out this free download thatâs available right now.
When it comes to fantasy RPGs, it doesn’t get much better or more popular than Bethesdaâs The Elder Scrolls series, especially when that entry is called Skyrim.
Originally released in 2011 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Skyrim is so popular that itâs been ported to every console generation since. Well, apart from not being natively on the Nintendo Switch 2, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Bethesda changes that one day.
Whether itâs the epic main story quest, going from rags to riches, fighting the many clans of Tamriel, slaying mystical beasts such as giant dragons or going on a treasure hunt, youâre never short of adventures in Skyrim.
Then we have FromSoftwareâs Elden Ring, released in 2022. Arguably the best game from the studio, and thatâs saying something considering it has also treated us to the likes of Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, to name a few.
Sure, just like any other game by FromSoftware, Elden Ring will kick your ass the moment you touch digital grass in the Lands Between, but thereâs something about its gameplay and world that makes you enjoy being a glutton for punishment.
Worlds now collide
So, when we hear of a mod that can be described as a blend of Skyrim and Elden Ring, you can bet your last quid that it will pique our interest. That mod in question is called âDepths of the Soulâ for Skyrim, created by Nimwraith, and itâs free to download now via NexusMods.

âDepths of the Soul centres around Pike, a dungeon delving merchant who sells vital goods for the ruins ahead. Pike is not a simple or one-dimensional vendor and offers a real motivation for his line of work,â reads the description of the mod. âPurchasing his goods and interacting with him will allow the player to uncover the complex and troubled past that he harbours.â
âDepths of the Soulâ not only features brand new quests, new items to acquire and enemies to battle, but also around 160 lines of newly recorded dialogue.
Sadly, it looks like âDepths of the Soulâ is exclusive to the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, as is the case with most mods.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Itâs also included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription at no extra cost.

This sounds like an exciting blend for fans of both franchises! It’s great to see new projects that bring together elements from beloved games. Iâm sure many players will appreciate the opportunity to explore this free download.
You’re absolutely right! Combining elements from both Skyrim and Elden Ring could lead to some unique gameplay experiences. Iâm curious to see how theyâll integrate the storytelling styles from each game.
I completely agree! The blend of open-world exploration from Skyrim and the challenging combat of Elden Ring could create a really immersive experience. Itâs exciting to think about how the storytelling elements from both games might also come together in this new project.
I totally get that! The combination really does offer a unique experience. Plus, the rich lore from both games can make the world feel even more immersive for players. It’s exciting to see how developers are blending elements from different genres!
