Skyrim and Elden Ring fans will want to check out this free download that’s available right now.
When it comes to fantasy RPGs, it doesn’t get much better or more popular than Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls series, especially when that entry is called Skyrim.
Originally released in 2011 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Skyrim is so popular that it’s been ported to every console generation since. Well, apart from not being natively on the Nintendo Switch 2, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Bethesda changes that one day.
Whether it’s the epic main story quest, going from rags to riches, fighting the many clans of Tamriel, slaying mystical beasts such as giant dragons or going on a treasure hunt, you’re never short of adventures in Skyrim.
Then we have FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, released in 2022. Arguably the best game from the studio, and that’s saying something considering it has also treated us to the likes of Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, to name a few.
Sure, just like any other game by FromSoftware, Elden Ring will kick your ass the moment you touch digital grass in the Lands Between, but there’s something about its gameplay and world that makes you enjoy being a glutton for punishment.
Worlds now collide
So, when we hear of a mod that can be described as a blend of Skyrim and Elden Ring, you can bet your last quid that it will pique our interest. That mod in question is called ‘Depths of the Soul’ for Skyrim, created by Nimwraith, and it’s free to download now via NexusMods.

“Depths of the Soul centres around Pike, a dungeon delving merchant who sells vital goods for the ruins ahead. Pike is not a simple or one-dimensional vendor and offers a real motivation for his line of work,” reads the description of the mod. “Purchasing his goods and interacting with him will allow the player to uncover the complex and troubled past that he harbours.”
‘Depths of the Soul’ not only features brand new quests, new items to acquire and enemies to battle, but also around 160 lines of newly recorded dialogue.
Sadly, it looks like ‘Depths of the Soul’ is exclusive to the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, as is the case with most mods.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It’s also included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription at no extra cost.
